Technical careers are quickly becoming more and more popular because in many cases the amount of schooling required to acquire a job is not quite as long as a conventional college or university course may take. Annual salary is also fantastic for most technical careers. What are some fields of technology that are in high demand, offer higher job security and a great annual salary?

Technical schools that offer career minded education are becoming more and more popular and can be found in most major cities throughout the United States. Career minded schools have your exact career in focus, and have created a program that keeps you on course for that specific career and nothing else. In many cases a certificate can be earned in less than 12 months allowing you to land a job even in a competitive job market. Career minded schools have deep ties within their communities and often times will offer a job placement program that helps you to find a job as soon as you graduate.

If you do not feel that a certificate is going to help you make it in this competitive job market we have, technical career schools also offer courses that end in a Masters, bachelors or Associates degree. Earning an associate’s degree in as little as two years can get you into a job earning a very respectable annual salary. What are some of the more popular technician careers that are proving to have a high employment rate?

Any time a person chooses to pursue a career, it is important to look past only what they will be making hourly or annually, but to make sure that they will even be able to have a job once they have acquired the skills needed. Medical technical careers are very popular because the demand for skilled technicians is always growing. Hospitals, positions offices and vet Neri clinics are always on the look for a skilled technician. Some technical skills that have proven to land people in career long jobs are that of dental assistants, medical billing and coding specialists, nursing and nursing assistants, pharmacy technicians, radiology technicians, respiratory therapy, x-ray technicians, healthcare and rehab therapy technician.

These career fields have shown a higher job employment rate because people always get sick and need help and turned to doctors and medicine. No matter what the economy looks like, there will always be a need for those with medical skills. What can a technician with a degree or certificate expect to earn annually in the field each year?

A technician salary will vary greatly depending on several variables. What are some of these variables? Technician salaries vary greatly on job location, a person’s skill set, location, economy, education background and job demand. Radiology, ultrasound and x-ray technical careers are three of the more popular technical career fields being sought after today. An ultrasound technician salary can be expected to start around $19 per hour and grow as a technicians experience level grows. A radiology technician salary straight out of school with little to no experience on average will start around $31,000 per year. An x-ray technician salary can they be expected to be around the same as a radiology tech salary. Some other very respectable technician salaries is a medical billing and coding salary, a respiratory therapist salary, a dialysis technician salary, an EKG technician salary, a veterinary technician salary and a lab technician salary. These are just a few of the many many technical career salaries out there today. If you have the skills needed to land a job, and that job happens to be in high demand you can expect a very respectable career salary.

It is vital to keep in mind that salary should not be your sole reason for picking or pursuing a particular career or job. You do not want to spend a year to four years of your life pursuing an education that will land you a job that you might dislike or even hate. Do your research, and really dig into the daily life of a person who has pursued the same career in which you are thinking about pursuing. Talk to people in the field, talk to counselors and read read read. You can never know too much about a particular career. The more you know, the less surprised you will be when you get into the employment market.

In the recent months i have been considering going back to school to achieve my degree in radiology technology. Radiologic technologists produce x-ray films of parts of the human body for doctors to properly diagnose medical problems. Radiologic technologists must follow the physicians’ orders precisely and know regulations to protect themselves and thier patients.

While researching what is required for this degree, I have discovered that there are many trade schools that will train you in this medical field. The programs offered will take from 1 year up to 4 years to achieve a certificate, an associates degree, or a bachelor’s degree. The two year associates degree programs are the most prevalent. I will be attending the 4 year degree plan to recieve my bachelors degree, to ensure that i will be able to receive promotions as i gain more experience.

Those that choose to receive a 1-year certificate are typically individuals that are already in the medical field such as technologists and registered nurses who want to change fields,a individuals that achieve a bachelors or master’s degree are eligible for supervisory, administrative, or teaching positions. To gain admission to a radiography program in a trade school you will need to have a minimum of a high school diploma or the equivalent diploma. If you took high school courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology will prove to be very beneficial in your advanced schooling.

Once you have completed your schooling you can get a job in hospitals, in private physician offices, medical and diagnostic laboratories, and in outpatient care centers. Radiologic technologists employment is increasing and job opportunities are expected to continue to increase. Those with degrees in this field held about 196,000 jobs in 2006, and more then 60 percent of all jobs were held in hospitals. The annual radiology technician salary will help you earn anywhere between $32,700 and $68,900 with most individuals earning between $39,800 and $57,900 annually. Of course money is not all that I look at when considering my career choice, but Ill touch more on that later.

With the growth in job opportunities and amount of additional schooling involved I can be assured that my decision to attend a trade school to get my degree in radiology technology will prove to be beneficial to me and my family. This degree will help me earn more annual income while giving me an occupation i can love while helping others. This is one aspect in choosing a career that my counselor could not stress enough to me. Whats that you ask?

Choose a Career that not only pays the bills, but is a career that I can see myself doing my entire life and not hating it. It is one thing to make a good living, but taking the time to research different education programs and really seeing what is involved on a day to day basis preforming the tasks that a particular job requires, can sway you one way or another towards making a better educated decision. I love helping people, and I love to make money! I am a people person, and realize that I will spend a lot of time interacting with different kinds of people on a daily basis. Some will be hurt while others are simply getting a looking over. I know that in any given situation I will be able to help a person to get them into the correct mindset to perform the x ray without hurting anyone, and getting the best shot possible.

So today I sit here because the rain is non stop. We have needed rain here for about 3 months, but now that its here, I want it to go away allready. Stuck inside with nothing to do. The wind is blowing so hard that our cable is out, or should I say our satelite tv is out. Gotta love direct tv at times like this. I am a media buff, so music and movies are gonna have to keep me occupied today!

I feel even worse for my 2 dogs because they have to sit inside their small dog houses and watch the rain. I guess I dont feel that bored, at least I still have the internet and the freedom to walk around the house.

I have been considering going back to school. I graduated in 2000 from high school. I got a job with no schooling required, just need a strong back. I really hate installing tile, back breaking every day although it does help me to stay fit and in shape. So in my quest to quit this job and find a job that requires less lifting, I think I have no choice but to go back to school.

I jumped on a few schooling websites and starting reading through some of the courses they offer, I dont know If I can handle another 4 years of school at a university. I have also checked into differnt tech schools and found that there are several courses offered both at the college or from the comfort of my computer online. I wouldnt mind doing some of the courses online, but its nice to get out of the house and intermix with people and actually talk to a teacher.

I tried to get into the fire department 2 years in a row and failed both times. I am in great physical shape, but the psych test got me both times. I have no fear of blood and broken bones, so I was thinking about either nursing school or finding x ray technician schools. Either one of those would be fine. In that particular field there are several different courses I could go. This is nice because if I cant find a job in one area, I can take a few more classes to earn a degree in another field.

Similar fields I could land a job in easily after a couple years of schooling would be something like mri tech jobs or radiology and ulstrasound tech jobs as well. They are all similar and require similar courses such as anatomy and lots of biology. I figure to that if I complete the schooling required for some of the jobs mentioned above, I will also have a greater chance of getting into the fire department if I reaply. Most of what they look at now with new applicants, is how they would fair as an EMT.

Im still not sure If Ill actually enroll in school, but if I do I guess I know what direction Im going to go in. I have also looked up base pay for all of the jobs I want and found out what the average mri technician salary is along with all other similar fields. Its up in the air as of now and Im going to keep doing more research til Im sure what I want to do.
