So today I sit here because the rain is non stop. We have needed rain here for about 3 months, but now that its here, I want it to go away allready. Stuck inside with nothing to do. The wind is blowing so hard that our cable is out, or should I say our satelite tv is out. Gotta love direct tv at times like this. I am a media buff, so music and movies are gonna have to keep me occupied today!
I feel even worse for my 2 dogs because they have to sit inside their small dog houses and watch the rain. I guess I dont feel that bored, at least I still have the internet and the freedom to walk around the house.
I have been considering going back to school. I graduated in 2000 from high school. I got a job with no schooling required, just need a strong back. I really hate installing tile, back breaking every day although it does help me to stay fit and in shape. So in my quest to quit this job and find a job that requires less lifting, I think I have no choice but to go back to school.
I jumped on a few schooling websites and starting reading through some of the courses they offer, I dont know If I can handle another 4 years of school at a university. I have also checked into differnt tech schools and found that there are several courses offered both at the college or from the comfort of my computer online. I wouldnt mind doing some of the courses online, but its nice to get out of the house and intermix with people and actually talk to a teacher.
I tried to get into the fire department 2 years in a row and failed both times. I am in great physical shape, but the psych test got me both times. I have no fear of blood and broken bones, so I was thinking about either nursing school or finding x ray technician schools. Either one of those would be fine. In that particular field there are several different courses I could go. This is nice because if I cant find a job in one area, I can take a few more classes to earn a degree in another field.
Similar fields I could land a job in easily after a couple years of schooling would be something like mri tech jobs or radiology and ulstrasound tech jobs as well. They are all similar and require similar courses such as anatomy and lots of biology. I figure to that if I complete the schooling required for some of the jobs mentioned above, I will also have a greater chance of getting into the fire department if I reaply. Most of what they look at now with new applicants, is how they would fair as an EMT.
Im still not sure If Ill actually enroll in school, but if I do I guess I know what direction Im going to go in. I have also looked up base pay for all of the jobs I want and found out what the average mri technician salary is along with all other similar fields. Its up in the air as of now and Im going to keep doing more research til Im sure what I want to do.
